Towns for Tomorrow – Inclusion Focused Public Administration Reform, 2027-2028
The project establishes structured cooperation mechanisms between citizens and local self-governments, directly engaging 1,050 participants (50% women) through 21 events. Participants will include young people (aged 18-30), women entrepreneurs, members of the Roma community, municipal staff, and citizens from rural areas. These groups have been prioritised due to their limited representation in decision-making processes and their strategic role in promoting inclusive local development.
The project encourages citizens' participation in democratic and civic life at the local level, strengthens inclusive and responsive governance practices, addresses structural barriers that hinder the participation of underrepresented groups, and promotes transnational cooperation and mutual learning among municipalities across Europe by connecting municipalities and cities from five countries.
In addition, the project places special emphasis on smaller and less-developed municipalities in the Western Balkans, which often have limited access to international cooperation frameworks and European Union-level networks. By integrating these municipalities into a transnational network with EU partners, the project provides citizens with improved access to European cooperation structures. This contributes to reducing territorial and capacity gaps while strengthening their ability to engage in EU-related processes and sustain participatory approaches beyond the project's duration.
The project will indirectly benefit approximately 570,000 citizens across participating municipalities through improved participatory mechanisms and more responsive public services.
