Youth: for her better future, 2022-2023
For her better future - youth for gender equality and equal opportunities, 2022-2023
The project is implemented in Slovenia, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey within the framework of the program Erasmus+. Four partner organizations, Institute Circle (Slovenia), SOS Children's Villages (Egypt), Development Action without Borders (Lebanon) and Platform for the Development of Civil Society (Turkey) joined together to empower young people in the fight against discrimination and gender-based violence and in the field of striving for gender equality.
Both in Slovenia and in the participating countries - Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt - gender based violence has intensified in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic. Stereotypical thinking about the social roles of women and men and discrimination against women and girls in many areas are passed down from generation to generation in all countries.
The key link in breaking the transmission of these patterns is the youth - while children are too weak to stand up and express their opinions, and the elderly already have ingrained ways of thinking and behaving, the youth are still in the process of forming their identity and values, so they must be included in processes and initiatives aimed at combating violence and discrimination against women and girls.
The project will therefore empower groups of young people from the mentioned countries and equip them with methods and tools for awareness-raising, education and defence of women's and girls' rights and gender equality, as well as with knowledge in the field of preventing gender-based violence.
Project duration: March 2022 - January 2023
Project partners: Zavod Krog (Slovenia), Civil society development association (Turkey), Developmental Action without Borders (Lebanon), SOS Children's Villages (Egypt)
The project is funded under the Erasmus+ program of the European Union.
